Marroquin Stepping Up in Class, Exposure

Thackerville, Oklahoma — Roberto Marroquin, one of best fighters from Dallas, will take on Puerto Rico Olympian Carlos Valcarcel in the Red River Rumble main event on Saturday, December 17 here at the WinStar World Casino.

Bob Arum, the Hall of Fame CEO of Top Rank, made the announcement today.

“Robert is one of the best, most popular fighters in Texas today,” Arum said. “He has great skills and punches with power. Now he is going into a very challenging fight in the main event at the WinStar World Casino.”

The Marroquin vs. Valcarcel main event will be on the Top Rank Live! boxing series which is broadcast on FSN, Arum added.

Marroquin is a rated featherweight with a record of 20-1, 14 KOs. He is managed by Lou Mesorana of Texas. Valcarcel has a record of 12-3-4 with 5 KOs. He is from Catano, Puerto Rico.

The main event is scheduled for 10 rounds. Two Dallas welterweights, Julio Cesar Rangel, 8-4, 5 KOs, and Hector Vazquez,  6-1, 2 KOs, will rumble on the card. Undefeated Mexicali heavyweight Andy Ruiz – a huge puncher – will also be in a bout. Ruiz is trained by Miguel Diaz of Las Vegas.

There will be seven bouts on the fight card.

The Red River Rumble will take place inside of the Global Event Center. Doors open at 6 pm. There is no age limit to attend although you must be 18 years old to enter the casino. Ticket prices range from $18 to $33 per ticket and can be purchased online HERE.
