Notre Dame Alums Head to Vegas in Support of Mike Lee

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 7, 2010) A large contingent of Notre Dame faithful will  descend on the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Saturday night,” TARGET=”_SELF”>SEPTEMBER 11TH as Notre Dame Boxing Champion MIKE LEE returns to action in a four round light heavyweight battle against Alex Rivera.

Reuttiger, best known as the inspiration for the sensational 1993 movie, “Rudy”, the story of an undersized walk-on who harbors a dream to play football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Lee graduated in 2009 from Notre Dame, the number one business school in the country, at the top of his class with a degree in finance.

A three-time Bengal Bouts champion while at Notre Dame, Lee is continuing to give back as he helps fund the university’s Holy Cross Missions of Bangladesh which raises money for children in Bangladesh.  

Earlier this year, Lee, a native of Wheaton, Illinois, moved to Houston, Texas to train with highly regarded trainer Ronnie Shields.

The 23 year old Lee made his pro debut on May 29th at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion with a terrific four round shutout unanimous decision over Emmit Woods which was broadcast internationally on Fox Sports Net’s “Top Rank Live”. The win took place in front of a record setting hometown crowd of over 2,000, who had distinctly purchased tickets for Lee’s fight, the largest “Top Rank Live” attendance for the year 2010.

The Lee/Rivera bout is the feature attraction undercard bout of the HBO televised “The Battle of Champions” headlined by the World Featherweight Championship battle between Cuba’s YURIORKIS GAMBOA and Mexican veteran Orlando Salido.
