Division: 12 Rds., IBF Welterweight Eliminator
Result: Jones Wins by Unanimous Decision
Detail: Jones dominated the durable journeyman Lujan for the entire fight. The Philly fighter used his jab well, preventing his rugged opponent from doing much other than firing wild haymakers – big, loping, snap-less punches that had little meaningful impact. Jones’s best rounds were the opener, the fifth, and the twelfth. In the first, he hurt Lujan with a right to the side of the head, which had some at ringside predicting that Lujan was ready to go. Then, Jones ended the fifth with a flush right that backed Lujan up and sent him, dazed and confused, moseying to Jones’s corner at the bell. Finally, in the twelfth, Jones sent Lujan stumbling back into the ropes twice, before ending the fight on a high note by pinning Lujan in the neutral corner and working him over with until the bell.
Two of the judges scored it 119-109, the third 118-110.
