“Solo Boxeo” Begins New Series Sept. 16th on Univision Deportes

LAS VEGAS, NV (SEPT 6, 2016) – Top Rank, and UNIVISION DEPORTES, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) that includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language cable sports network, announce the highly awaited series premiere of “Solo Boxeo” in its new time slot, on Friday, September 16th at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT with a simulcast on UDN and UNIMÁS NETWORK. The series opener will include classic matches from the Top Rank Vault featuring beloved Mexican fighters in honor of Mexico’s Independence Day.

Boxing fans can continue to expect even more of the exciting action-packed fights they have been enjoying since the series’ inception in 2000. World-rated contenders and outstanding prospects will continue to be featured in outstanding matchups.

“Solo Boxeo” will make its series premiere with a special Mexican Independence Day program featuring two classic world championship fights from the Top Rank vaults, starring four legendary Mexican champions — the rematch between Oscar De La Hoya and Julio Cesar Chavez and the battle between future Hall of Famers Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera.

Live boxing will return to “SOLO BOXEO” on Friday, September 23.  The live simulcast, from Kissimmee, Fla., will feature undefeated super lightweight contender JULIAN “HAMMER HANDS” RODRIGUEZ (13-0, 10 KOs) of Hasbrouch Heights, NJ, against Brazilian buzz sawClaudionel Lacerda (17-15-1, 12 KOs) and undefeated featherweight contender CHRISTOPHER ‘PITUFO’ DIAZ (17-0, 11 KOs), from Barranquitas, Puerto Rico against Raul Hirales (22-5-1, 11 KOs) of La Paz, Mexico.
