At the age of 27, Wale is a seven-year pro. A rising young contender at 147 pounds, he recently moved to the U.S. and signed a promotional contract with Top Rank.
Top Rank's chief matchmaker Bruce Trampler first spotted Lucky Boy while he was involved in some wicked sparring with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the Wild Card Gym.
"Lucky Boy is skilled and he hits real hard. He got my attention real quick," Trampler said.
Lucky Boy, who had been boxing in Australia, said he took a flight months ago to meet Freddie Roach because, "I heard so much about him. Freddie is the best trainer there is in boxing," Lucky Boy said. "Already he has taught me footwork, to attack from different angles, how to throw hard punches. He is the best and now I am with the best promotional company in Top Rank."
