After Rojas, Arce Wants Donaire

After Rojas, Arce Wants Donaire

05/30/2012

Los Mochis, Sinaloa - Five-time world champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce declared himself ready for his fight next week in Las Vegas, as he held a media day for the local and national in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Arce (60-6-2, 46 KO's) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico will take on Jesus Rojas (18-1-1, 13 KOs) of Caguas, Puerto Rico in the semifinal bout of a pay-per-view card, which will feature the world title bout between Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and undefeated champion Timothy Bradley on Saturday, June 9 in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

"I feel great. I very strong and fast for this fight. I know I need to win this fight to keep my future plans going, and that's what I intend to do," said Arce, who is training in his hometown of Los Mochis.

Arce is coming off a big year in 2011, when he won three fights, two world championships, and had one big upset. Last May, he stopped Wilfredo Vazquez in Las Vegas in a great fight which few people expected him to win.

"I know I still have something left, and I proved it against Vazquez Jr. I was very confident against Vazquez Jr. and was happy with the way the fans enjoyed the fight-- that many people said was the best of the night," said Arce.

Arce has won world titles in 108, 115, 118 and 122, and his interim at 112, making him the first five-time world champion in Mexican boxing history.

"I am very proud of all the world titles, but I am more proud of the great fights I've had in my career, especially the ones in Las Vegas against Hussein Hussein and Vazquez Jr., which stole the show from my good friend Manny Pacquiao. I hope to give fans another great fight on June 9th."

The fight against Rojas is at 124 pounds, as Arce inches his way to 126 pounds in search of another world title.

"I know that I have some interesting fights out there at 122 against Nonito Donarie and Abner Mares, but I also want to fight for the world title at 126 pounds against Orlando Salido. But first things first: beat Rojas and see what is next," said Arce.

Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs), boxing’s only eight-division world champion and the lone congressional representative from the Sarangani province in the Philippines, will be defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship crown against WBO junior welterweight champion Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs), of Palm Springs, Calif., Saturday, June 9, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.  The Pacquiao-Bradley world championship fight will be produced and distributed Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with MP Promotions, Tecate, AT&T and MGM Grand, remaining tickets to Pacquiao vs. Bradley are priced at $1,200, $900, $600, $400, and $200.  Ticket sales at $1,200, $900, $600 and $400 are limited to 10 per person and ticket sales at $200 are limited to two (2) per person.  To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Ticketmaster (800) 745-3000.  Tickets also will be available for purchase at www.mgmgrand.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
