"Orlando Salido Will be 'Toughest Test' for Yuriorkis Gamboa"

Writes Lem Satterfield at Fanhouse:

"When WBA featherweight (126 pounds) king Yuriorkis Gamboa enters the ring against IBF titlist Orlando Salido on Sept. 11 at The Palms Resort Casino in Las Vegas, it "will be Gamboa's toughest test so far," said Ahmet Öner, Gamboa's co-promoter with ARENA Sports.

A former a former 2004 Cuban Olympic gold medalist, the 28-year-old Gamboa (18-0, 15 knockouts) will be making the fourth defense of his belt against the 29-year-old Salido (34-10-2, 22 KOs) in a bout that is co-promoted by Top Rank Promotions and which will be televised on HBO.

"'We have matched him [Gamboa] against strong opposition from his very first pro fight on, but a title unification is always special. Salido isn't wearing the championship belt for nothing,' said Öner.

"'Also, the pressure on Gamboa is increasing now that he is the main event fighter in Las Vegas and on HBO,' said Öner. 'But I am convinced that he will prove once more that he is one of the best fighters and most exciting rising stars in the sport today.'"
