Power Prospect: Exclusive Audio Interview with Omar Henry

In his last fight on March 12 in Grapevine, Texas, Omar Henry came at his then undefeated opponent like a rabid lynx, knocking out the unfortunate Francisco Javier Reza in the first round. It was one of those lopsided contests where the other guy doesn't even look like he belongs in the ring (think Pacquiao thumping Hatton), let alone going head-up in a pro bout against a "beast" like Henry.

Though the undefeated Chicago native (he now lives in Houston) has won all but one of his professional bouts by knock-out, Henry has only fought eight times. So, yeah, he's just getting his sea legs in the pro game. Nevertheless, besides his A-level talent, Henry possesses an equally important trait: he knows the fight game requires a super-sized discipline and loads of patience. And, more important, he's putting that knowledge into practice.

Henry fights next on April 3 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. TopRank.com caught up with the 23-year-old college student/fighter to talk about balancing books and boxing, growing up on the rough-and-tumble streets of Chicago, and his ultimate goal: becoming an undisputed world champion.
