UNDEFEATED JESSIE VARGAS SIGNS WITH TOP RANK

Unbeaten welterweight Jessie Vargas of Las Vegas today signed a promotional contract with Top Rank. Bob Arum made the announcement at Top Rank's corporate office in Las Vegas.

Vargas, 19-0, said he will begin training at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas. He is managed by Cameron Dunkin and trained by Robert Alcazar.

"Everyone at Top Rank is very excited about Jessie," said Arum. 

"I wanted to be with the Top Rank team and here I am," Vargas said. 

"Jessie Vargas is a Top 10 welterweight who not only wants to win a world championship, but  is looking to be a star in the sport," Dunkin said.

"I am planning to very busy, fighting three, four times a year," Vargas said.

Vargas was born in Los Angeles. He moved to Las Vegas at the age of six and began boxing at eight years old. He won gold medals at a number of national tournaments. Vargas was a two-time National Golden Gloves champion. His amateur record was 120-20.

Vargas said he is looking to make his Top Rank debut in September.
