(Oct. 1, 2024) — Unified middleweight world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly defends his crown against undefeated contender Andrei Mikhailovich this Friday, Oct. 4, at The Star in Sydney, Australia.
Janibek-Mikhailovich headlines a special early-morning card streaming live and exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S. starting at 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.
Janibek (15-0, 10 KOs), the world’s top middleweight, is making the trip Down Under to face a somewhat familiar foe. He and Mikhailovich were scheduled to fight in July, but Janibek was forced to withdraw prior to the weigh-in. Mikhailovich (21-0, 13 KOs), born in Russia and raised in New Zealand, now has the home region advantage in his first world title opportunity. He is coming off April’s first-round stoppage of Les Sherrington.
