February 4, 2012 – Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas

“Welcome to the Future” – Undercard

Fight: VANES MARTIROSYAN, 31-0, 19 KOs, Glendale, Calif. vs TROY LOWRY, 27-11, 15 KOs, St. Paul, Minn.

Division: 10 Rds., Super Welterweights

Result: Martirosyan Wins by TKO in Round 3

Detail: Martirosyan is a hungry fighter on the cusp of a big fight. In the meantime, he’s staying active. And he must’ve gotten a boost in confidence after the beating he gave Lowry. Clearly outclassed, Lowry spent most of the fight getting punched in the face. Martirosyan gave him no quarter, knocking him down in under a minute of the opening round. Lowry survived, but by the second, his face was red and bloody. In the third, the shaky-legged Lowry got dropped twice, with the second planting forcing the ref to call the fight just before the final bell.

Martirosyan was up 20-17 on two cards and 20-16 on the other through two rounds. Official stoppage time: 2:53.
