Chavez Jr. to Fight for Middleweight Title

LOS ANGELES (April 1, 2011) – Son of the living legend, JULIO CÉSAR CHÁVEZ, JR. (42-0-1, 30 KOs), of Culiacan, México, World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion SEBASTIAN ZBIK (30-0, 10 KOs), of Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,

Germany, Baltimore Ravens safety and undefeated cruiserweight TOMMY ZBIKOWSKI  (3-0, 2 KOs), Hall of Fame promoter BOB ARUM and FERNANDO BELTRAN of Zanfer Promotions, will host a news conference luncheon announcing Chavez Jr.’s first world title shot, as well as Tommy Z’s Los Angeles debut as a professional fighter Next Wednesday!  April 6, at STAPLES Center – City View Terrace (1111 South Figueroa St., Los Angeles, Calif. 90015).  Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. PT with the news conference beginning at  Noon PT.

Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Zanfer Promotions, Universum Media Network, TECATE and STAPLES Center, the Chávez, Jr. vs. Zbik world middleweight championship will take place Saturday, June 4, at STAPLES Center, and marks the first fight Chávez Jr. has fought in Los Angeles in six years.  It will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark.  The world championship event will be highlighted by a celebration of the boxing career of Julio César Chávez, who will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame the following week.
