Lee Preps for Friday Night Fights on ESPN

HOUSTON, TX (May 29, 2012) — Amidst the pre-summer heat and humidity of Houston, Texas, former Notre Dame Boxing Champion and current undefeated professional Mike Lee is training under the watchful eye of famed trainer Ronnie Shields.

The 24-year-old Lee, 8-0-0 with five knockouts, will face off against Denver, Colorado’s Isiah Barela, 4-2-0 (3 KOs) on Friday, June 8th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The scheduled six round bout will be broadcast on ESPN Friday Night Fights (9pm CST, 7pm PST).

Marking the two-year anniversary of his pro debut on Monday, Lee spent the Memorial Day weekend at Savannah’s Gym training with world ranked junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara.

Last year at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Lee brutally stopped Pablo Gomez in the first round with a huge right hand, sending his mouthpiece airborne and his body sprawling across the ring.

The sensational photo taken from the February 26, 2011 fight was featured shortly thereafter in a two page photo spread in ESPN The Magazine. On Wednesday, June 6th, noted Las Vegas based photographer Chris Cozzone will be honored for the photo by the Boxing Writers Association of America at their 87th Annual Awards Dinner in New York City.

Lee is also a national spokesman for Subway Restaurants and is currently featured in numerous nationally broadcast commercials alongside Michael Phelps, Blake Griffin, Michael Strahan and Carl Edwards.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Lee graduated at the top of his class from the Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business where he earned a degree in Finance.
