Detail: Gomez came out with furious intent, firing one wild punch after another, momentarily throwing Lee off his game–momentarily being the operative word. Though Lee got his bell rung by a flush shot, the Notre Dame grad kept his cool and, rather than trying to beat Gomez at his own crazy game, scouted out his weakness.

The patience paid off quickly: Lee planted Gomez with a hard right cross in the opening round. Wobbly but still game, Gomez came back at Lee, and Lee once again dropped him with a right–this time, for good. The ref stopped it in the first at 2:17.
