First-person Report on Johnson-Jefferies 100th Anniversary Celebration

“It was quite a special weekend in Reno, Nevada as the city was playing host to the 100-year anniversary of the heavyweight CHAMPIONSHIP bout between Jack Johnson and James J. Jeffries. I was lucky to be on hand along with the wife as we made our way out on Friday morning. Fortunately, the traffic was kept to a minimum so we arrived pretty quickly. Though the focus was on the anniversary, there was other work to be done as Top Rank and Let’s Get It On Promotions was putting together a fight card for Saturday night as part of the Top Rank Live series at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino (which is a beautiful hotel, by the way). After checking in, we made our way down to the Xtreme SPORTS Lounge near the hotel lobby to cover the final weigh-in.”
