“Arum: Pavlik Staying at 160, Facing Chavez Jr. on Dec. 4”

Writes Lem Satterfield at Boxingscene.com:

“According to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, it’s very possible that KELLY PAVLIK (36-2, 32 KOs)and JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR. (41-0-1, 30 KOs) will collide on December 4 at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Last week, a report ran on BoxingScene.com that Pavlik was seriously considering the possibility of remaining in the middleweight division. The Youngstown native had previously announced his desire to move up in weight to 168-pounds. After thinking it over, Pavlik came to a decision and informed Top Rank that he would hire a nutritionist and remain at 160-pounds.

“Before Chavez and Pavlik face off, the unbeaten Mexican will return to action on September 11, and Top Rank is looking for a very solid opponent to prepare him for Pavlik. Arum says both sides have agreed to the fight in December. Chavez’s new trainer, Freddie Roach, gave Arum his blessing to make the fight happen.”
