Segura and Vasquez Prepare for “Total Revolution”

Two of Mexico’s top world champions, GIOVANI “THE AZTEC WARRIOR” SEGURA and Miguel “El Titere” Vazquez, will be in action on Saturday, November 27 at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana to headline “Total Revolution.” This first-rate card is presented by Promociones Zanfer and Top Rank Inc. as part of the 100-year celebration of the Mexican revolution.

Segura (25-1-1, 21 KOs), of Guerrero, Mexico, is the current WBA and WBA 108-pound world champion and is coming off the biggest win of his career-a nine-round stoppage of Puerto Rican legend IVAN CALDERON.

Segura will take on former world champion Manuel “Chango” Vargas (28-6-1, 13 KOs), of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico, in a 10 round non-title bout at 112 pounds. Segura is testing the waters at the flyweight division for a possible encounter with the WBO flyweight champion Julio Cesar Miranda early next year.

“I have trained very hard for this fight, because I want to give the fans a great fight. Vargas is a good fighter but my power and style will be too much for him,” said Segura.

In the main event, Vazquez (26-3, 12 KOs), of Guadalajara, Mexico, will defend for the first time his IBF world lightweight championship against Ricardo “Pelon” Dominguez (36-6-2, 20 KOs), of Culiacan, Mexico, in what should be an action-packed brawl.

Vazquez won the IBF championship on August 14 in Laredo, Texas with a win over Ji Hoon Kim. “It will be a tough fight, and I need to be smart in there at all times. I hope to do well in this, my first fight as a world champion,” he said. “At this weight, I don’t see anyone that can beat me; and I will prove it on November 27 in Tijuana.”

This card is part of the boxing series “Top Rank Live” and will be telecast in the United States by Fox Deportes.
